Larry Mitchell: A Pilbara Project Exhibition
How many ways are there to tell stories about a place, especially a place as vast as the Pilbara? Perhaps there are as many ways as there are people. Imagine that. For every person, a story of landscape, experience, home. The Pilbara Project website is where some of these stories can be shared. It's a forum for stories from anyone, anywhere in the world, who has experienced the Pilbara or wants to experience the Pilbara. For over seven years, a West Australian not-for-profit cultural organisation called FORM has been getting to know people and stories from the many communities throughout the Pilbara.
Larry Mitchell is a self-taught artist who grew up in Northampton, on the midwest coast of Australia. It is here he developed an interest in the coastal environment.
The Pilbara Project is a blog and ‘real world’ project connecting the people, places and stories of Western Australia’s remote Pilbara region. Live here? Been here? Coming here? Tell us about it!
